We are looking for an Accounts Assistant who wants to play a valued part in a busy, collaborative finance team. This is a hands-on role for someone with strong transactional finance skills, a practical approach, and a real eye for detail. You will support the accurate and timely processing of core finance activities, including purchase ledger, expenses, corporate cards, banking and reconciliations, helping to ensure our financial records are reliable, well controlled and up to date.

Purchase ledger and supplier processing: Process supplier invoices, maintain accurate supplier records, reconcile statements, prepare payment runs and resolve routine queries.
- Expenses and travel administration: Process staff expense claims, check receipts and approvals, apply correct coding and VAT treatment, and support timely reimbursement.
- Corporate cards and business expenditure: Collect, code and post card transactions, reconcile statements, follow up missing information and ensure compliance with internal procedures.
- Banking and reconciliations: Post payments and receipts, allocate cash, assist with bank payments, complete routine reconciliations and maintain accurate records.
- Finance administration and controls: Support month-end preparation, respond to finance queries, assist with payroll administration tasks and help maintain effective financial controls.
- Process improvement: Highlight errors, inefficiencies or recurring issues and contribute to practical improvements within the finance function.

Experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar transactional finance role.
- Good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and core finance processes, ideally up to trial balance level.
- Working knowledge of purchase ledger, expenses, banking, reconciliations, VAT and coding.
- Confidence using accounting software, such as Sage, and Microsoft Excel.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail and organisation.
- Clear communication skills when dealing with colleagues, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- A reliable, methodical and collaborative approach, with the confidence to escalate queries where needed.
- AAT qualification, or working towards AAT, would be beneficial.
