Operating predominantly as a Principal Contractor, we deliver complex Mechanical, Electrical and Renewable Energy projects across the UK, typically ranging in value from £500,000 to £4 million.

The Opportunity - We are looking for an experienced Pre-Construction Manager / Senior M&E & Renewables Estimator to become a key member of our Strategic Projects team.
This is far more than a traditional estimating role. - You’ll work closely with our Divisional Director, Commercial Manager, Operations Manager, Project Managers and Bid Team to help secure exciting projects whilst influencing the future direction of our estimating function.
You’ll also play an important role in developing the next generation of AI-assisted estimating tools, helping us modernise how we estimate projects and move beyond traditional software platforms.

Key Responsibilities
Tender Leadership
- Lead the preparation of detailed Mechanical and Electrical estimates for projects between £500k and £4m.
- Review tender documentation including drawings, specifications, schedules and Employer’s Requirements.
- Develop robust cost plans and tender submissions.
- Produce value engineering proposals where appropriate.
- Attend pre-tender meetings and site surveys.
- Manage tender programmes to consistently meet submission deadlines.
Commercial Management
- Prepare detailed enquiries for subcontractors and suppliers.
- Evaluate quotations and negotiate competitive pricing.
- Maximise commercial opportunities whilst maintaining quality and programme requirements.
- Work closely with our Procurement Team to utilise national buying agreements and framework discounts.
- Identify project risks and develop suitable commercial allowances.
Project Handover
- Provide comprehensive tender handovers to operational teams.
- Support Project Managers during mobilisation.
- Assist with commercial queries during project delivery where required.
- Maintain estimating records and lessons learned for future tenders.
Collaboration
Working alongside our Bid Team, Commercial Team and Operational Delivery Teams, you’ll contribute towards:
- Technical bid submissions
- Cost planning
- Value engineering
- Vender strategy
- Risk reviews
- Programme development
- Consultant engagement

What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Minimum five year’s experience in estimating
- Excellent understanding of Mechanical and Electrical Building Services.
- Experience pricing projects valued between £500k and £4m.
- Strong commercial awareness.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and digital estimating software.
- Full UK Driving Licence.

- Electrical Bias is Advantageous
- Experience working for a Principal Contractor.
