About the role
The Group Accountant is a key member of the PTSG Central Finance Team, with responsibility for robust accounting, as well as supporting on financial reporting requirements. The role involves the completion of VAT returns and management of the fixed asset process, a key driver in the month end consolidation process.
Whilst this role is based in our Head Office and focuses on central accounting and group costs, it will also have lots of interaction with various PTSG subsidiaries. PTSG is a fast paced and high growth business, employing over 2,300 people and consisting of five separate divisions, each with a number of individual businesses.
This is a full time, permanent role, working on a hybrid approach (4 days in the office and 1 from home). You will be based from our open-plan Castleford head office (WF10 5HW), which is just a 5-minute walk from the train station, close to the M62 and A1 and has on-site parking.

What you will be doing:
Ensure centrally managed processes such as tax, insurance, professional fees and investments etc. are fit for purpose and accounting transactions are recorded accurately
Manage the fixed assets of the business and review their reconciliation
Manage the monthly consolidation process of the group including the processing of various consolidation adjustments.
Drive a timely and accurate period end close.
Support on technical accounting matters and drive the implementation of the group accounting manual
Completion or review of assigned balance sheet reconciliations
Assist with acquisition accounting for the group
Be a key contact for the year end external audit including the creation of two sets of consolidated accounts.
Assist with the completion of unaudited statutory accounts across the group
Assisting, alongside working with professional service advisors, with the consolidated corporation tax workings.
Completion of VAT returns
What we're looking for:
Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
Good knowledge of accounting principles and their appropriate application
Ability to implement best practice processes and controls
Business partnering skills desirable given focus on group costs and intercompany recharges
Pragmatic and flexible in approach
Self-starter and able to work autonomously
Strong time management and the ability to prioritise
Experience of group accounting and/or working in a centralised finance team of a large group
would be advantageous
Knowledge of acquisition accounting is desirable
Knowledge of Onestream is desirable
