Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Live-in Carer to provide high-quality support and personalised care to clients within their homes. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting with daily activities, ensuring safety, and promoting independence for individuals with various care needs. Responsibilities
- Provide personalised patient care, including assistance with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and mobility.
- Administer medication in accordance with prescribed schedules and document all care provided accurately.
- Support clients with meal preparation, ensuring nutritional needs are met and dietary restrictions are adhered to.
- Assist with light housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Manage behaviour effectively, especially in clients with dementia or Alzheimer's, employing patience and understanding.
- Offer companionship and emotional support to promote mental health and social engagement.
- Support clients with mobility and transfers, including heavy lifting when necessary, ensuring safety at all times.
- Drive clients to appointments or outings as required, maintaining safe driving practices.
- Respond promptly to emergencies or urgent situations using first aid skills when needed.
- Collaborate with family members and healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care plans tailored to individual needs.
Requirements
- Proven experience in assisted living, home care, or related caregiving roles; experience in nursing home or hospice environments is advantageous.
- Knowledge of dementia, Alzheimer’s care, behavioural management, medication administration, and senior care best practices.
- Relevant qualifications such as first aid certification are preferred.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and assist with mobility tasks.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Valid driving licence and clean driving record for client transportation duties.
- Compassionate attitude with strong communication skills and patience when caring for vulnerable individuals.
- Flexibility to work live-in shifts that may include overnight stays; adaptability to changing care requirements is essential.
