Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced XYZ Lathe Operator on a part-time basis to program, set, and operate our XYZ lathes. You will be responsible for machining low-volume, high-precision bespoke components and machine parts from technical engineering drawings. Flexible hours are available between 16 and 24 hours per week, completed within our standard operating window.
Key Responsibilities:
- Programming, setting, and operating XYZ lathes (ProtoTRAK / Siemens controls).
- Manufacturing precision components and press parts to tight tolerances from engineering drawings.
- Selecting appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for various materials.
- Inspecting completed parts using standard measuring equipment (micrometres, callipers, height gauges).
- Performing routine machine maintenance and maintaining clean work area standards.
Experience & Essential Requirements:
- Proven hands-on experience programming, setting, and operating XYZ lathes.
- Strong ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and schematics.
- Solid understanding of modern machining techniques, tooling selection, and material capabilities.
- High level of accuracy, self-motivation, and attention to detail.
- Must have the legal right to work in the UK.
What We Offer:
- Pay: £16.50 - £17.50 per hour.
- Flexible Schedule: 16 – 24 hours per week, arranged flexibly within standard day-shift hours (Mon – Fri, 07:15 – 15:45).
