The opportunity:
A great opportunity to join a market leading Professional Indemnity team. We offer insurance cover to clients worldwide across many professions including accountants, solicitors, insurance brokers, actuaries, construction and miscellaneous professions deploying capacity of up to £10m/€15m/$20m on any one risk. We thrive on providing excellent service via our expert underwriters who are available both at Lloyd's and in the offices and have a flexible and innovative approach to underwriting that ensures that we can provide the best products for our customers.
What you’ll be doing:

Underwrite and manage a portfolio of professional indemnity risks, applying sound underwriting practices to assess, evaluate, and price new business, renewals, endorsements, and adjustments.

Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers/clients to generate submission flow, secure new business opportunities, and identify cross-sell and up-sell opportunities.

Offer best in class service to brokers/clients, producing timely quotes and managing the end-to-end renewal process. Making decisions on whether to accept, decline, or refer risks, exercising underwriting authority within defined limits and clearly documenting underwriting rationale.

Anticipate market trends and keep track of specific underwriting issues, legal developments, and emerging risks affecting professional indemnity lines.

Assist with PI portfolio management with a focus on strategic, profitable, and sustainable growth.
- Actively promote the company brand within the market.
Our must-haves:

Experience in professional indemnity or financial lines underwriting and/or broking, with recognised knowledge of PI insurance products.

Excellent local market knowledge and a strong professional reputation within the PI market.

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret complex risk information, financial data, and statistical analysis.

Sound decision-making ability, particularly the confidence to make underwriting decisions under pressure and with incomplete information.
- Commercial awareness and a financial mindset, with the ability to balance risk and reward effectively.
- Ability to respond to a changing environment with flexibility and innovation.

Relationship-building skills — the ability to develop rapport and trust with brokers, clients, and colleagues.
- Awareness of claims trends and legal/regulatory developments relevant to professional liability.
