Plastech Ltd is a well-established supply and distribution business specialising in plastic pipe systems. Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit a reliable and hardworking Yard Operative to join our team based in Ashton-in-Makerfield.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys physical work, takes pride in keeping things organised, and works well in a fast-paced environment.
Working Hours
- 40 hours per week
- Monday to Friday
- Overtime available when required
Holiday
- 21 days annual leave (plus statutory entitlement if applicable)
Key Responsibilities
- Order picking and preparing customer orders accurately
- Loading and unloading delivery vehicles safely and efficiently
- Locating, moving, and organising stock within the yard
- Serving and assisting customers in the yard professionally
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and tidy yard at all times
- Ensuring all goods are stored and stacked safely
- Completing relevant paperwork and documentation accurately
- Reporting damaged goods or equipment following company procedures
- Supporting day-to-day yard operations to ensure smooth workflow
Requirements Essential
- Good reading, writing, and numerical skills
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated
- Able to work under pressure in a busy environment
- Good attention to detail
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Must be 21 or over for insurance purposes relating to forklift operation
Desirable
- Previous yard, warehouse, or industrial experience
- Forklift Truck (FLT) experience or licence (advantageous but not essential)
- Ability to identify damaged or malfunctioning equipment and report issues promptly
