Overview
We are seeking a motivated and energetic Breakers Yard Worker to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing the efficient operation of the yard, handling materials, and ensuring safety and organization across the site. Responsibilities
- Load and unload materials using appropriate equipment such as forklifts and manual handling techniques
- Operate warehouse management systems to track inventory, shipments, and yard activities accurately
- Conduct routine maintenance and basic repairs on yard equipment to ensure safety and functionality
- Handle materials safely, including heavy lifting, stacking, and organizing items within the yard
- Assist with shipping and receiving processes, ensuring timely movement of goods in accordance with schedules
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by adhering to health and safety protocols
- Support yard operations by performing mechanical checks and troubleshooting equipment issues as needed
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a warehouse or yard environment with familiarity in warehouse management systems
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform basic repairs on equipment
- Experience operating forklifts (certification preferred) or willingness to obtain certification upon hire
- Strong materials handling skills, including heavy lifting and proper manual techniques
- Good understanding of shipping & receiving procedures and documentation processes
- Basic math skills for inventory counts, measurements, and calculations
- Ability to work efficiently in a physically demanding environment involving heavy lifting and prolonged standing
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to warehouse operations
