OPERATIONS MANAGER (HOLIDAY CAMPS)
FIFTH Movement is a leading Physical Education and School Sport provider, working with primary schools, Multi-Academy Trusts and local authorities across Greater Manchester. Our Holiday Camps are a core part of the business and a major growth area, and we are looking for a Holiday Camp Operations Manager to take full ownership of this area of the business.
LOCATION: Manchester (HQ, Hale)
SALARY: £32,000 - £36,000
CONTRACT: Full time, permanent
REPORTS TO: Operations Director
Our mission is to build lifelong healthy habits in children through movement and our holiday camps help us achieve this mission.
We are a small business growing fast. This role is built for someone who wants the ownership and pace of an SME and the chance to grow as the business grows.
THE OPPORTUNITY
You will own three connected streams, year-round:
- HAF (Holiday Activities and Food) delivery, where you manage funded provision, grant applications, reporting and local authority relationships.
- Parent-paid camps, where you drive bookings, occupancy and revenue.
- Compliance, where you are accountable for safeguarding and quality, with a strong understanding of Ofsted requirements.
You will build the programme, not just run it, shaping policies, systems and growth, whilst managing a team. As we scale, this role can scale into a senior operations lead for the business.
What you'll own:
PROGRAMME AND CAMP OPERATIONS
- End-to-end logistics and delivery of all Holiday Camps across Greater Manchester.
- Site set-up, risk assessments and incident handling to a consistently high standard.
- Building out and owning our policies, procedures and operational systems as the programme grows.
COMPLIANCE
- Accountability for compliance across all provision, underpinned by a strong understanding of Ofsted requirements.
- Keeping the programme audit-ready and acting as a lead point of contact on compliance and safeguarding.
HAF FUNDING
- Managing HAF programme delivery, funded places, compliant spend and reporting.
- Writing and managing grant and funding applications, and reporting against them.
- Owning the relationship with local authorities on funded provision.
GROWTH AND NUMBERS
- Ownership of parent-paid numbers, occupancy targets and camp revenue.
- Working with marketing on campaigns to drive take-up across paid and funded places.
- Spotting and opening up new sites and opportunities as we grow.
PEOPLE AND STAFFING
- Recruiting staff for camps, and training new staff to deliver to FIFTH Movement standards.
- Owning staff-to-child ratios across all sites.
- Building strong relationships with schools, parents, suppliers and the delivery team.
- Being the face of FIFTH Movement Holiday Camps to families and partners.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
This role is crucial to the business, so we need someone strong. You are proactive, organised, calm under pressure, understand the sector and working with children, and have a real can-do attitude.
ESSENTIAL
- Experience in the childcare, education or sport sector, ideally leading or coordinating teams who work with children.
- A clear understanding of Ofsted standards and what compliant, safe provision looks like.
- Confident recruiting, managing and developing staff.
- Strong organisation, and the ability to run multiple sites and priorities at once without dropping standards.
- Budget awareness and comfort owning numbers and targets.
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own car (our schools are spread across Greater Manchester).
- Manchester based.
- Enhanced DBS (required on successful application).
DESIRABLE (TRAINING PROVIDED WHERE NEEDED)
- Understanding of the HAF programme.
- A coaching qualification (NGB Level 2 or 3) or a childcare / playwork qualification (Level 3 or above).
- Experience with funding and grant applications.
- Paediatric First Aid and Level 2 Food Hygiene.
- Experience working in a small, fast-growing business.
- Salary: £32,000 to £36,000 per year, depending on experience.
- Hours: full time, permanent.
- After successfully passing probation, flexible working with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office.
- Enhanced DBS required on successful application.
