Job Overview
The Birch Hotel is looking for a reliable, enthusiastic, and customer-focused Food & Beverage Assistant to join our team.
Working across breakfast service, the restaurant, bar, weddings, conferences, and events, you will play an important role in delivering excellent service and creating memorable guest experiences.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys working with people, and is looking to become a valued member of a professional hospitality team.
Please note: This is not a seasonal or student position. We are looking for someone seeking regular, long-term employment who can commit to the operational needs of the business. Weekend availability is essential, and applicants with significant existing commitments may find it difficult to meet the requirements of the role. Reliability and flexibility are key.
Responsibilities
- Deliver friendly and professional food and beverage service
- Welcome guests and provide a warm, attentive experience
- Take food and drink orders accurately and efficiently
- Serve food and beverages in accordance with hotel standards
- Support breakfast, restaurant, bar, wedding, and event operations
- Prepare and maintain service areas to a high standard
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of conferences, functions, and private events
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation throughout all service areas
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards
- Handle guest requests and feedback professionally and efficiently
- Assist with cash handling and billing procedures when required
Skills & Experience
- Previous hospitality, restaurant, bar, hotel, or catering experience preferred
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Friendly, approachable, and professional manner
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to delivering high standards
