As part of our continued growth, we are looking for an experienced and exceptional Planning and Purchasing Manager to join our management team and play a key role in driving operational efficiency, strengthening our supply chain, and ensuring our manufacturing operation is equipped to meet growing customer demand.
Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Planning and Purchasing Manager to lead our material planning, procurement, inventory management, and production and capacity planning activities.
This is a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of materials through the manufacturing operation. You will work closely with manufacturing, procurement, supply chain, and other internal teams to ensure materials are available when needed, inventory levels are optimised, and production plans are aligned with demand and available capacity.

You will be an experienced planning, purchasing, or supply chain professional with strong organisational and analytical skills and a proven ability to manage competing priorities. You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and have the commercial awareness and problem-solving skills needed to balance customer requirements with operational efficiency and cost control.

Responsibilities
- Ensure the production and capacity plans for all areas of manufacturing are completed on time and accurately
- Monitor and provide regular updates on production status to the plan, highlighting any potential issues, delays or bottlenecks
- Analyse materials requirements in line with business planning and customer sales forecast information
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure optimal stock, while minimizing excess and obsolete materials.
- Coordinate with production and warehouse teams to align material availability with manufacturing needs.
- Recommend practical solutions to reduce production costs as well as improve production processes and product quality.
- Ensure material shortages, quality issues, and supplier-related challenges are actioned and resolved timely and accurately
- Liaise with key suppliers to agree material forecasts to support procurement decisions and purchasing actions
- Oversee purchasing activities, including sourcing, negotiating, and managing suppliers.
- Ensure that PO’s are raised in a timely manner and effectively managed with suppliers.
- Negotiate cost reductions
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure quality, pricing, and delivery reliability.
- Manage supplier performance.
- Lead and develop the purchasing and planning team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and efficiency.

- Inventory levels of components and supplies maintained at desired levels, resulting in minimal stock outs or overstock
- People Management: Able to achieve results through others.
- Excellent time and task management, leading by example.

Requirements:
- Previous experience of materials and production planning in a similar manufacturing environment
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Good understanding of supply chain management and manufacturing processes
- Coordination with other functions, ensuring contribution and delivery of clear/relevant critical data
- Strong analytical skills and ability to forecast demand, manage budgets, and optimize inventory.
- Advanced level of IT literacy (Excel)
- Confident and clear communicator
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Able to challenge processes and think proactively to solve issues
- Ability to demonstrate high levels of resilience and flexibility in a dynamic environment
