Job Title: Technical Inspector

Rochdale Boroughwide Housing is looking for an experienced Technical Inspector to join our Property Services team. This is a rewarding opportunity for a property professional with strong technical knowledge and a customer-focused approach who is passionate about maintaining housing standards and improving residents' homes.
You'll play a key role in inspecting properties, diagnosing defects, specifying repairs, and ensuring remedial works are completed to a high standard. Working across a varied property portfolio, you'll help deliver safe, compliant, and well-maintained homes while providing expert advice and support to colleagues and customers.
This role is a full time contract to 31st March 2027.
What you'll be doing as our Technical Inspector

Conducting a wide range of property inspections, including damp and mould, structural, drainage, fire damage, adaptations, complaints, and post-work inspections.

Diagnosing building defects and identifying appropriate repair solutions.

Raising and monitoring repair works to ensure quality, compliance, and value for money.

Carrying out post-inspections to ensure repairs meet required standards.

Producing clear and accurate inspection reports, recommendations, and technical assessments.

Providing expert advice on property condition, repairs, quality assurance, and customer care.

Building positive relationships with residents, managing expectations, and handling queries with empathy and professionalism.

Working collaboratively with colleagues and contractors to ensure excellent service delivery.
About you
You'll be an experienced property inspection professional with a strong understanding of building construction, maintenance, and repairs. You will have excellent diagnostic skills, a practical approach to problem-solving, and the ability to communicate technical information clearly to a wide range of audiences.
What we're looking for

Experience in property inspections, repairs, maintenance, or surveying.

Strong knowledge of building defects, construction methods, and repair techniques.

Understanding of Building Regulations, housing standards, and health and safety requirements.

Ability to assess property issues and identify cost-effective solutions.

Experience producing detailed inspection reports and recommendations.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Proficiency in using mobile technology and digital inspection systems.

Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use.
