Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join our friendly team based at our automated pharmacy at Farnham Road Hospital, Guildford (GU2 7LX). We are a multi-site organisation with inpatient units in Guildford, Chertsey (Silverwood Unit), and Epsom (Meadows, West Park), plus a Research and Development team at Two Bridges, Chertsey.
This role involves working across our inpatient sites and includes medicines reconciliation, inpatient and outpatient dispensing, final accuracy checking, supporting clozapine supply, and contributing to clinical trials. You will need excellent communication and organisational skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a flexible, multi-skilled approach.
Mental health experience is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided. Applicants must hold a BTEC and NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Pharmacy Services and be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
Band 5 is subject to meeting progression criteria. We welcome applicants from primary or secondary care looking to change specialties.
This is a Monday–Friday role with no weekend work. Full-time is preferred, but part-time and flexible working options will be considered. Travel between sites is required; a driving licence and access to a car are preferred.
The role will require this person to:
dispense and issue prescriptions.
undertake the final accuracy checking of dispensed medicines.
Complete medicines reconciliation for allocated wards.
provide medicine-related information and respond to enquiries within the scope of the role and competence of inpatients and community teams.
be involved with the day-to-day running of the clozapine supply service.
be involved in clinical trials dispensing and in the preparation of medicines at our R&D unit in Chertsey, for which training will be provided.
