Job Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced and reliable Mobile HGV Technician to join our growing team based in west Bromwich . This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled technician looking for a well-paid, Monday-to-Friday role with some weekend work.
Working in a mobile capacity, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing HGV trailers at our sites, ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard.
Responsibilities
- Assist experienced technicians in diagnosing faults using schematics and technical manuals
- Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on a range of HGV trailers
- Diagnose faults and complete repairs efficiently
- Conduct routine inspections and safety checks
- Respond to breakdowns when required
- Ensure all work complies with health & safety regulations
- Complete job reports and paperwork accurately
- Learn to perform routine maintenance tasks on heavy vehicles and equipment, including excavators and forklifts
- Support fabrication, welding, soldering, and assembly work for vehicle components and parts
- Use hand tools, power tools, and equipment repair techniques to carry out repairs efficiently
- Help with electrical system troubleshooting and electrical component replacement
- Participate in the inspection of vehicles for safety compliance and operational readiness
- Contribute to the upkeep of workshop cleanliness, safety standards, and accurate record-keeping of repairs and maintenance logs
- Diagnosing faults using the latest diagnostic equipment
- Completing MOT preparation work
- Ensuring all work is completed to DVSA and company standards
- Maintaining accurate job records and documentation
- Working both independently and as part of a team
Skills
- Basic mechanical knowledge with an interest in heavy vehicle systems
- Familiarity with electrical experience, schematics reading, welding, soldering, and fabrication techniques
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and equipment for assembly and repair tasks
- Knowledge of maintenance procedures for heavy machinery such as excavators and forklifts
- Strong customer service mindset when interacting with team members or clients on-site
- Willingness to undertake heavy lifting safely and follow safety protocols at all times
- Good communication skills with an eagerness to learn technical skills related to vehicle repair
