Looking for a Support Worker role where you can really get to know the people you support?
We're looking for a caring, reliable and positive Male Support Worker to join our friendly team at Springfield House in Bargoed.
Springfield is a small, six-bedroom residential home supporting adults aged 18 - 65 with learning disabilities, mental health conditions and physical disabilities.
This isn't about doing everything for someone. It's about supporting people to do as much as possible for themselves, make their own choices, enjoy their lives and be part of their local community.
A full UK driving licence is essential for this role, as you'll drive the home's vehicle to support residents with appointments, activities and community outings.
What Will Your Day Look Like?
No two shifts are exactly the same!
You might be supporting someone with their morning routine, heading out into the community, attending an appointment, enjoying an activity together or helping someone work towards a personal goal.
You'll also provide the everyday care and support people need to feel safe, comfortable and confident in their own home.
Your role will include:
- Supporting residents with daily living and personal care where required
- Encouraging independence, choice and involvement in everyday decisions
- Supporting people to work towards their individual goals and outcomes
- Helping residents access activities, appointments and their local community
- Driving the home's vehicle to transport residents safely
- Building positive and professional relationships with the people you support
- Providing reassurance, encouragement and emotional support
- Following individual care and support plans
- Completing accurate care records
- Recognising and reporting changes in a resident's needs or wellbeing
- Working closely with colleagues to provide consistent, person-centred support
- Promoting dignity, privacy, respect and choice at all times
Who Are We Looking For?
We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with people and understands that good support is about encouraging independence rather than taking over.
Previous experience in care or support would be welcomed, particularly experience supporting adults with learning disabilities, mental health conditions or physical disabilities.
Just as importantly, you'll need to be:
- Kind, patient and respectful
- Reliable and committed to your shifts
- Confident communicating with different people
- Comfortable providing personal care where required
- Positive and encouraging in your approach
- Able to work well as part of a team
- Comfortable supporting people out in the community
- Committed to promoting independence, choice and dignity
A QCF Level 2 in Health & Social Care would be an advantage but isn't essential.
Driver Required
A full UK driving licence is essential.
Driving isn't just an occasional extra in this role. You'll be required to drive the home's vehicle so that residents can attend appointments, enjoy activities and access their local community.

Hours
This is a permanent, full-time position working 36 hours per week.
You'll work:
3 x 12-hour day shifts per week
7:30am - 7:30pm
Shifts are worked according to the home's rota and include weekend working.
