Plant Controlling Assistant
You will address operational complexities while identifying and delivering cost-saving and process improvement opportunities.
As the primary on-site finance representative, you will be an important liaison between operations and the finance team. You will lead discussions, facilitate meetings, and provide accurate financial insights to support the Financial Controller in making informed, strategic decisions that inform our performance and growth.
You will help ensure accurate product costing, improving financial transparency, and ensuring the business to better understand its market potential while delivering sustainable cost efficiencies.
This is an 18-month, site-based finance position located at the Shildon site.
Key Responsibilities

Batch Variance Analysis Analyse production variances by reviewing batch sizes and routing drivers. Identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions to improve cost accuracy.

Routings Optimisation (Kits) Update and refine production routings to reflect actual yields, reduce negative variances, and ensure accurate product costing, supporting margin improvement and growth opportunities.

Slow & Surplus Inventory (SSPL) Reduction Investigate causes of slow-moving and surplus inventory. Collaborate with Supply Chain to enhance planning parameters, reduce excess stock, and prevent recurrence.

Cost Centre Reporting Enhancement Improve cost visibility and reporting at a supplier level to support leadership decision-making, allowing cost savings and operational efficiency improvements.

ASFM Routing Implementation Develop and implement accurate routings to reflect true cost differences compared to manual production lines.
Qualifications

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Experience with ERP systems (preferably Oracle R12)

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams
