Delivery Driver / Warehouse Operative

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Delivery Driver / Warehouse Operative to join our team at FW Homestores.
The main part of the role will involve driving a 3.5 tonne delivery vehicle and delivering furniture directly into customers’ homes. This is a physically demanding role, so we are looking for someone who is comfortable with manual handling, lifting heavy and bulky furniture, and working as part of a delivery team.
Alongside home deliveries, you will also be expected to assist within the warehouse when required. This can include unloading furniture containers, picking customer orders, loading delivery vehicles and helping to keep the warehouse organised and running efficiently.
Main Responsibilities
- Driving a 3.5t delivery vehicle safely and responsibly
- Delivering furniture into customers’ homes
- Providing a professional and friendly service to customers
- Loading and unloading delivery vehicles
- Carefully handling furniture to minimise the risk of damage
- Assisting with unloading furniture containers
- Picking and preparing customer orders within the warehouse
- Checking that the correct items are loaded for delivery
- Reporting any damages, shortages or delivery issues
- Completing delivery paperwork and other required documentation
- Keeping vehicles and working areas clean and tidy
- Following company health and safety procedures at all times
- Assisting with other warehouse duties where required
Working Hours
The normal working week is generally:
Tuesday to Saturday – 8:30am to 5:00pm
However, working hours may occasionally change depending on the requirements of the business and delivery schedules.
For example, some working days may be approximately:
7:30am to 4:00pm
Reasonable notice will normally be provided when working times need to change.
Applicants should therefore have some flexibility regarding start and finish times.
What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold a full UK driving licence suitable for driving a 3.5t vehicle
- Be confident driving larger vans
- Be physically fit and comfortable carrying heavy and bulky furniture
- Be comfortable with regular manual labour
- Have good timekeeping and attendance
- Be reliable and able to work as part of a team
- Have a professional and polite manner when dealing with customers
- Take care when handling customers’ furniture and property
- Be able to follow delivery instructions and warehouse procedures
- Have good attention to detail when picking, loading and checking orders
Previous experience within furniture delivery, removals, warehousing, picking, loading or multi-drop home delivery would be highly beneficial.
Experience is preferred, although we would consider someone with the right attitude, work ethic and willingness to learn.
The Role
This is not solely a driving position.
Successful applicants should expect a hands-on role involving regular lifting, carrying, loading and unloading. Furniture can be large and heavy, and deliveries may involve carrying products through customers’ homes and occasionally dealing with stairs or restricted access.
You will normally work alongside another member of the delivery team when completing furniture deliveries.
Customer service is also an important part of the role. Our delivery teams represent FW Homestores in the customer’s home, so we expect staff to be polite, helpful and professional throughout the delivery.

Pay: £12.71 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
