Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Data Engineer Intern to join our team for a short-term, in-person internship. This role is ideal for university students or recent graduates looking to gain hands-on experience in data engineering within a professional environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and optimise internal databases, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and accessibility.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data workflows to identify and resolve performance issues or failures.
- Integrate and manage external and internal APIs, ensuring seamless data exchange between systems.
- Assist in designing and implementing data pipelines.
- Document data processes, workflows, and system configurations clearly and accurately.
- Collaborate with colleagues and client to understand data requirements and deliver scalable solutions.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in a STEM field, such as Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Engineering, or Physics.
- Strong academic performance with evidence of relevant coursework or project work.
- Demonstrated interest in data engineering, databases, or backend systems.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Candidates from top-tier universities such as Imperial College London, Oxford, Cambridge, UCL and KCL are strongly preferred.
- Previous experience in data is beneficial.
Preferred Skills:
- Proficient in Python and SQL.
- Familiarity with relational databases and data modelling concepts.
- Understanding of APIs (RESTful services, data formats such as JSON).
- Strong communication, problem-solving and analytical skills.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Undergraduate students or recent graduates.
- Eligible to work in the United Kingdom.
- Available to work in-person for the full duration of the internship.
- No work visa can be provided for this internship.

Pay: £30.00 per hour
