Overview
Nu Vending is looking for a hands-on and highly organised Warehouse Manager to take full ownership of our warehouse operation in Enfield.
This is a hands-on management role. You will be responsible for overseeing all goods coming into and leaving the warehouse, while also carrying out the day-to-day warehouse duties yourself.
At present, the size of the operation does not require a dedicated warehouse team. However, as the business continues to grow, there will be scope to build a supporting warehouse team around this position, with the Warehouse Manager responsible for developing and managing that function.
The warehouse supports several areas of the business, including our vending operation, wholesale channel and engineering department. Strong stock control, organisation and accuracy are therefore critical to the role.
Key responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of the Nu Vending warehouse.
- Manage and personally carry out goods-in and goods-out activities.
- Receive deliveries, check quantities and condition of goods and ensure stock is correctly recorded and stored.
- Pick and prepare stock for vending routes, wholesale orders and other operational requirements.
- Maintain an organised warehouse layout with clearly defined locations for all products and equipment.
- Ensure stock is rotated correctly and appropriate FIFO and date-control procedures are followed.
- Maintain high standards of warehouse cleanliness and housekeeping.
- Ensure waste, damaged products and expired stock are correctly controlled and recorded.
Purchasing & Stock Management
- Take responsibility for ordering products required across the vending estate.
- Manage product ordering and stock requirements for our growing wholesale channel.
- Use sales, usage and stock data to determine appropriate ordering quantities and stock levels.
- Maintain suitable minimum and maximum stock levels while avoiding unnecessary overstocking.
- Monitor product usage and identify unusual trends, shortages or potential supply issues.
- Work closely with suppliers to ensure deliveries arrive accurately and on time.
- Carry out and take ownership of weekly stocktakes.
- Investigate stock discrepancies and implement corrective actions to improve stock accuracy.
- Support the business in reducing stock losses, waste and obsolete inventory.
Engineering Parts & Equipment
The warehouse is also responsible for stock supporting Nu Vending's technical operation.
You will:
- Manage all goods-in and goods-out for engineering parts and components.
- Maintain accurate records of engineering parts held in stock.
- Ensure engineers have access to the appropriate parts required to support the machine estate.
- Monitor parts usage and replenish stock where required.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels of frequently used components while controlling the value of parts held within the warehouse.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Take responsibility for maintaining safe working conditions within the warehouse.
- Ensure appropriate Health & Safety procedures and protocols are implemented and consistently followed.
- Carry out and maintain relevant warehouse risk assessments and safe working procedures.
- Ensure appropriate procedures are followed for manual handling, racking, equipment use and movement of goods.
- Identify potential hazards and take appropriate corrective action.
- Maintain appropriate Health & Safety records and documentation.
- Ensure the warehouse meets the standards required under AVA accreditation, which operates in a similar way to an ISO-style quality and operational standard within the vending industry.
- Support internal and external audits and ensure any required corrective actions are completed.
Systems & Reporting
- You will need to be comfortable working with IT systems as stock management and purchasing are increasingly data-driven.
Experience & Skills Essential
- Previous experience working within a warehouse, stock-control or logistics environment.
- Strong understanding of goods-in, goods-out and inventory management.
- Experience managing or taking responsibility for stock control.
- Good understanding of warehouse Health & Safety and safe working practices.
- Confident using IT systems for stock management, ordering and reporting.
- Good numerical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of the warehouse operation.
- Comfortable working in a hands-on role, rather than purely supervising others.
- Ability to identify problems and implement practical improvements.
Desirable
- Previous experience as a Warehouse Manager, Warehouse Supervisor or similar.
- Counterbalance forklift licence or another recognised forklift qualification.
- Formal Health & Safety training or qualification.
- Experience managing Health & Safety procedures within a warehouse environment.
- Experience working within food, beverage, vending, FMCG or wholesale distribution.
- Experience working within an audited or accredited environment such as ISO, BRCGS or similar.
- Experience managing purchasing and supplier relationships.
Pay: £35,000.00 per year
