Overview
We are seeking an experienced, passionate and dedicated Level 2, Enhanced DBS checked, self-employed Swimming Teacher to join our expanding and popular swimming school. The successful candidate will be a strong swimmer, preferably to club level or an ex-competitive swimmer. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality swimming lessons to a diverse range of learners, ensuring their safety and fostering a love for swimming. The swim school is expanding by reputation due to the high quality of the teaching and we are proud of the speed at which we are able to teach both children and adults to swim.
This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your teaching skills within a supportive environment, contributing to the confidence and progression of our students and the continued expansion of our swimming school. It is important that you are reliable and able to make the fixed hours each week during term time:
- Mondays: 16:00 - 19:00
- Wednesdays: 16:00 - 19:00
- Thursdays: 16:00 - 18:30
- Fridays: 16:00 - 18:00 (from September)
These hours are likely to increase in the future as we take on more clients. It is likely that you will also have the opportunity to work in school holidays when we hold crash courses.
Experience required
- Previous experience in swimming teaching or coaching is essential
- Level 2 swimming teacher or equivalent is essential
- Enhanced DBS Check is essential
- The National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches (NRASTC) is desirable
- Proven ability to motivate and engage learners of different ages and abilities
- Strong understanding of swimming techniques, safety procedures, and child development principles
- A genuine passion for teaching and promoting water safety is vital for success in this role
Duties
- Plan and deliver engaging swimming lessons tailored to various age groups and ability levels following the STA/ASA or equivalent criteria.
- Ensure the safety of all participants during sessions by adhering to strict health and safety protocols.
- Assess learners’ progress and provide constructive feedback to support their development
- Maintain a clean and organised poolside environment, including equipment setup and storage
- Communicate effectively with parents or guardians regarding learner progress and any concerns
- Uphold professional standards in line with recognised teaching qualifications and organisational policies
