We're looking for a marketing and communications professional to join our team in the North, where you will be responsible for planning and delivering marketing services within the Growth team, and as part of the wider North Communications & Marketing community.
You’ll support the Trust’s growth ambitions in collaboration with properties and national teams through effective and efficient audience-led marketing, including supporter emails, PR, website, paid-for media. You’ll manage the efficient and effective delivery of communications and marketing, collaborating with teams across the organisation on campaigns and other activity.
You’ll support property communications and marketing colleagues, using your expertise to guide, train and provide hands on support to aid in the delivery of their marketing plans as well as key projects; and how they manage their reputation.

What it's like to work here:Reporting to the Senior Communications and Marketing Delivery Partner for the North, you’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team of experts including curators, archaeologists, conservators, surveyors and fundraisers who work together to deliver the greatest possible public benefit through our national strategy. It’s a supportive, specialist environment where professional expertise is valued and shared, and where every contribution makes a tangible difference to the places and communities we serve.
You’ll also be part of the national Communications and Fundraising Directorate, working collaboratively with many centrally based channel experts and communication professionals.
This role can be based any of our regional hubs in Cumbria, Manchester, Altrincham, York or Newcastle. Your contractual work location will be the nearest National Trust regional office to your home.
Contract: This is a fixed term contract due to end when the previous employee returns from secondment. At this point we cannot confirm exactly how long this contract will last, but it is unlikely to be more than 24 months.
You’ll split your time flexibly between home working, office days and site visits, and you should expect to be at a National Trust place around 40–60% of your week. We’ll discuss the balance at interview.
What you'll be doing:One of four Communications & Marketing Delivery Partners in the North, you'll work collaboratively with national, regional and property colleagues to plan and delivery best practice activity with audiences at the heart. You will provide an excellent internal service, ensuring that properties have the information they need to deliver effective communications and marketing.
You’ll manage work in collaboration with property marketing professionals, and colleagues across other disciplines, to deliver integrated campaigns and activity that meets our strategic goals. You’ll be responsible for co-ordinating a plan of activity across a range of channels, monitoring and evaluating effectiveness to inform future decisions.
Through proactive project support you’ll help build awareness of our work and the value we bring to people and nature whilst also working with a range of internal colleagues, project teams and external partners and stakeholders to mitigate and manage any reputational risks through well-considered crisis communications.
- Who we're looking forAs a communications and marketing professional, you will have good understanding of the tools and techniques of effective marketing and communications delivery across multiple channels.
- You will be able to draw on your experience of delivering marketing and communications activity for campaigns, projects, and from working with partners, to inform your approach in advising and coaching others.
- You will have good knowledge and experience of the full marketing planning process including using research, audience data and analysis to inform delivery and managing performance through monitoring and evaluation.
- You will be confident in managing and supporting reputational issues.
- You will have the ability to build collaborative working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders including operational colleagues, senior leadership, national specialists, and external professionals and partners.
- You will have coaching and mentoring skills and an ability to enthuse, inspire and raise the confidence of non-specialists in marketing and communications.
- You will have a recognised marketing communications qualification or equivalent level of experience.
- You will have a full UK Driving Licence.
