Job Description – Counsellor / Psychotherapist (Fixed-Term Cover, 6 Months)
Location: PROMIS Clinics, Deal, Kent
Contract Type: Fixed-term contract, 2 months (to provide cover during a colleague's period of leave, with the possibility of early ending or short extension depending on the absence)
Working Pattern: 5 days per week: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday
Salary: £30318.6 per annum, based on 5 days per week
Start Date: Immediate start available, subject to pre-employment checks
Important Information
This role is entirely face-to-face and based at our clinic in South Kensginton, London.
- This is a fixed-term position covering a temporary absence within our therapy team. It is not a permanent vacancy.
- The working pattern is fixed: Tuesday, Wedneday, Thursday and Friday, Satuday each week.
- There is no remote working option

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Addiction / Mental Health Therapist or Counsellor to join our clinical team on a fixed-term basis, providing cover for a valued team member during a planned period of leave.
You will need to integrate quickly into an established team and pick up an existing caseload with minimal lead-in time, so experience of residential or inpatient addiction treatment settings is highly desirable.
Working under the supervision of the Clinic Manager, you will deliver a range of therapeutic interventions including assessments, individual therapy, group work and family sessions, in line with your competencies. You will also take on a case management role, coordinating all aspects of a client's treatment journey from assessment through to discharge and aftercare.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver individual, group and family therapy sessions
- Conduct comprehensive client assessments
- Manage a caseload, guiding clients through inpatient treatment and beyond
- Act as a case manager, coordinating all aspects of client care
- Develop and implement individualised, goal-oriented treatment plans
- Provide therapy as part of inpatient, outpatient and aftercare programmes
- Monitor client progress and adapt treatment plans as needed
- Identify barriers to recovery and support clients in overcoming these
- Carry out risk assessments and risk management planning
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records, including psychosocial assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, risk assessments and discharge summaries
- Ensure all documentation meets internal policies and regulatory standards
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Support clients and families in understanding mental health and addiction
- Ensure a smooth handover of caseload and records at the start and end of the contract period
Person Specification
- Relevant professional qualification and registration/accreditation with a recognised body (e.g. BACP, UKCP, NCS, FDAP)
- Experience delivering therapy in addiction and/or mental health settings; residential experience an advantage
- Able to hit the ground running and manage an existing caseload from an early stage
- Friendly, approachable and professional manner
- Compassionate and dedicated to client care
- Strong team player with the ability to work collaboratively
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Ability to manage a varied and demanding caseload
- Commitment to confidentiality and professional boundaries
- Ability to report effectively to senior management
Additional Requirements
- Availability across the stated working pattern, including Saturdays
- Willingness to work occasional evenings as required
- Adherence to strict confidentiality and data protection standards
- Enhanced DBS check (existing certificate on the Update Service an advantage for a faster start)
Pay: £30,318.60 per year
