Job Title: Part-Time Small Group Coach
Company: Element Strength Collective
Location: Billericay, Essex
Job Type: Part-Time
Salary: Dependent on experience
About Us
Element Strength Collective is a results-driven, community-focused private training facility in Billericay.
We specialise in small group strength and conditioning, helping everyday men and women of all fitness levels build strength, confidence and lasting habits.
We're known for our supportive environment and coaching-led approach. Our members are known by name, their individual needs matter, and we genuinely care about their progress both inside and outside the gym.
Inclusivity, community and high-quality coaching sit at the heart of what we do.
The Role
We're looking for a passionate, reliable and highly coachable person to join our growing team.
You don't need to know everything. In fact, we're specifically looking for someone who wants to learn, asks questions, seeks feedback and is excited about developing their craft as a coach.
This isn't a “run the workout and go home” role.
We want coaches who take ownership of their sessions, understand the purpose behind the programme and can create an environment where every member feels supported, challenged and valued.
You'll be responsible for preparing for and delivering high-quality small group sessions, adapting the programme to the people in front of you and giving every member the best possible experience when they step onto the gym floor.
This will initially be a part-time coaching position, but there is genuine opportunity for the role to grow. As Element Strength Collective develops, we'd love the right person to take on more coaching hours and potentially become involved in other areas of the business.
We're not simply looking for someone to cover a few classes.
We're looking for someone who wants to grow with us.
Flexible hours are available for the right candidate; however, availability for some early mornings, evenings and Saturdays will be required.
What We Expect
- Show up prepared, organised and ready to coach.
- Be fully present and engaged during every session.
- Take the time to understand the purpose and intended stimulus of the programme.
- Genuinely care about our members and their progress.
- Be open to feedback and willing to be challenged.
- Ask questions when you don't know something.
- Take responsibility for continually developing your coaching knowledge and skills.
- Contribute positively to the culture of the gym and wider team.
Responsibilities
- Coach small group strength & conditioning sessions of 4–10 members to a high standard.
- Understand the programmed session and deliver its intended stimulus.
- Adapt movements, loading and intensity appropriately for different abilities, injuries and experience levels.
- Coach and reinforce strong movement standards.
- Maintain a safe, structured and professional training environment.
- Build genuine relationships with members and take an interest in their progress.
- Communicate clearly with members and the wider coaching team.
- Manage session timings effectively.
- Provide members with an excellent experience every time they train.
- Contribute ideas and feedback as the programme and community continue to develop.
What We're Looking For
- Level 3 Personal Training, Level 3 Strength & Conditioning or relevant equivalent qualification.
- Experience coaching small groups.
- Comfortable coaching strength-based and functional training.
- Good understanding of fundamental movement patterns and the ability to scale appropriately.
- Strong communication and people skills — you coach, not just instruct.
- Reliable, organised and proactive.
- Willing to receive and act on feedback.
- Curious about the why behind programming and movement.
- Someone who actively wants to become a better coach.
- Availability for some early mornings, evenings and Saturdays.
- Someone who sees coaching as a profession they want to develop within, not simply a way of picking up a few extra hours.
CrossFit qualifications and additional S&C qualifications are welcomed, but they're not essential for the right person.
What We Offer
- £20–£30 per hour, dependent on experience and coaching ability.
- Flexible part-time hours.
- Opportunity to increase coaching hours as the gym continues to grow.
- A genuine pathway to develop into a larger role within Element Strength Collective.
- Regular feedback, mentoring and coaching development.
- Opportunities to develop your knowledge across strength & conditioning, movement scaling, programming and member experience.
- A supportive coaching team where you're encouraged to ask questions and contribute ideas.
- A strong and welcoming member community.
- An environment where the work you do genuinely makes a difference to people's lives.
This could be a great fit if...
You're already coaching, but you know you've still got plenty to learn.
You care about becoming a really good coach, rather than simply collecting qualifications.
You enjoy working with everyday people and helping someone achieve something they didn't think they could do.
You want feedback.
You want responsibility as you develop.
And you'd like the opportunity to become part of something that's growing rather than simply picking up another shift.
How to Apply
Please apply with your CV and a short cover letter telling us:
- Why you'd be a great fit for Element Strength Collective.
- Why coaching matters to you.
- What you'd bring to our team.
- What you'd like to develop as a coach over the next 1–2 years.
Applications without a cover letter will not be considered.
