As Supply Chain Manager for Batteries and Inverters within the Project Procurement team of RWE Technology International GmbH, you will also be part of the Global Category team for Batteries and Inverters. You will develop, establish, manage, and maintain the battery and inverter supply chain for RWE Generation SE and RWE Technology International GmbH while contributing to the wider RWE Group supply chain strategy. Working closely with the Senior Supply Chain Manager and other Supply Chain Managers, you will support battery and inverter supply agreements for the BESS project portfolio, strengthen supply chain expertise, and identify innovative solutions to anticipate evolving business needs.
About the role
- Lead strategic sourcing activities for battery equipment, including inverters, across multiple RWE business units and international regions.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies focused on value creation, cost optimization, supplier capacity, innovation, and supply chain resilience.
- Develop and optimize battery equipment contract templates to capture synergies and improve procurement efficiency.
- Manage supplier markets through supplier scouting, qualification, development, engagement, and strategic supplier relationship management.
- Lead the full sourcing process, including demand and market analysis, RFI/RFP activities, tendering, negotiations, contracting, and supplier award decisions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, acting as the key procurement contact throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate with project procurement managers, engineering, quality management, product development, finance, legal, HSE, and global category teams while providing regular reporting on procurement and supplier performance.
- Promote cross-functional and cross-border collaboration to align business needs with global procurement strategies and RWE processes.
Job requirements and experience
- Strong knowledge of battery and inverter supply chains, manufacturing processes, applications, and global supplier markets.
- Deep understanding of BESS supply chain dynamics and market trends.
- Strong strategic and analytical thinking with proven experience in sourcing, negotiating, and managing complex supply contracts.
- Extensive experience in strategic procurement, sourcing, or procurement strategy roles, ideally within BESS.
- Extensive experience identifying commercial risks and developing effective mitigation strategies in dynamic market environments.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence, collaborate, and build trusted relationships across international, cross-functional teams.
- Proven ability to manage multiple high-value contract packages, suppliers, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with strong intercultural collaboration abilities and willingness to travel internationally.
Advantageous, but not essential
- Degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, or Law.
- Additional language skills.
- Experience working in international and multicultural environments.
