Location: Sheerness & Rochester, Kent
Shift Pattern: Mixture of Management Shifts (average 2 per week) and Residential Floor Shifts (average 1 per week)

About the Home

The Role
As Deputy Manager, you'll work closely with the Registered Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of the home, ensuring children receive exceptional care while maintaining the highest standards of safeguarding, compliance and quality.
This is a rewarding leadership role where you'll inspire your team, develop future talent and help create a culture where both children and staff can flourish.
You'll have the opportunity to influence practice, support service development and play a key role in achieving outstanding outcomes for young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day leadership of the home
- Lead, motivate, coach and develop the residential staff team
- Promote a positive, therapeutic and child-centred culture
- Ensure children receive safe, consistent and high-quality care
- Safeguard and advocate for children and young people at all times
- Support care planning, placement stability and risk management
- Ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations, Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards
- Conduct staff supervision, mentoring and performance management
- Support recruitment, induction and ongoing staff development
- Lead shifts and provide management cover, including sleep-ins and on-call duties where required
- Build positive relationships with families, social workers and partner agencies
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to audits and quality assurance
- Drive continuous improvement across the home
What We're Looking For
We welcome applications from experienced Deputy Managers as well as Senior Residential Support Workers and Team Leaders who are ready to progress into a management position.
Essential
- Minimum of one year's experience working within a children's residential home
- Minimum of one year's experience in a senior, leadership or supervisory role
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, Children and Young People's Workforce or equivalent qualification
- Full UK driving licence
- Excellent understanding of safeguarding, child-centred practice and residential childcare legislation
- Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills
- Positive, resilient and solution-focused approach
- Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one
- Right to work in the UK (please note sponsorship is not available for this role)
