Job Summary
We are looking for a caring, reliable, and hardworking Kitchen Assistant to join our nursing care home team. You will support the Chef in preparing nutritious meals for residents, maintain high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene, and help create a pleasant dining experience. This role plays an important part in promoting residents' health and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with preparing and serving meals and refreshments.
- Wash dishes, kitchen equipment, and utensils.
- Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen in line with food safety standards.
- Store food correctly and monitor stock rotation.
- Support the Chef with food preparation and meal service.
- Clean dining areas before and after meals.
- Follow Health & Safety, Food Hygiene, and infection control procedures.
- Work as part of the care home team to ensure residents receive excellent service.
Requirements
- Previous kitchen or catering experience is desirable but not essential.
- Knowledge of food hygiene practices (Food Hygiene Certificate is an advantage).
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable, organised, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Caring and respectful attitude towards elderly residents.
- Willingness to work weekends and flexible shifts if required.
