Position: Retail & Kitchen Assistant

Gill Marsh Forecourts is an expanding operator of SPAR convenience stores and forecourts, committed to delivering exceptional customer service and a wide range of products that meet the needs of our local community.

We are currently looking to recruit two Retail & Kitchen Assistants, each working 22 hours per week across 3 days.
This is a varied role involving a balanced mix of shop floor and kitchen duties, where you will play an important part in delivering excellent customer service and supporting our food preparation and Food To Go operation.
Key ResponsibilitiesRetail & Shop Duties
- Serve customers, operate the till and provide excellent customer service
- Restock shelves and maintain attractive product displays
- Keep the store clean, tidy and welcoming
- Use upselling techniques to promote key products and offers
- Work collaboratively with the team to ensure smooth store operations
Kitchen & Food To Go Duties
- Assist with daily food preparation and evening bake-off, including pastries, pizzas and sandwiches
- Serve customers from our open Food To Go counter
- Maintain high hygiene standards in food preparation and service areas
- Clean and sanitise kitchen equipment and work areas
- Support with stock rotation and replenishment of kitchen supplies
- Cover staff breaks in the kitchen and support the team during busy periods
Working Hours
We are recruiting for 2 positions, each offering 22 hours per week over 3 days.
Weekend availability is essential, and the successful applicants will be required to work a combination of weekdays and weekends as part of their 3-day working pattern.
There may also be opportunities to work additional hours to cover holidays, sickness and periods of increased business demand.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in a kitchen, retail or customer-facing role is an advantage – full training will be provided
- Friendly, approachable and customer-focused attitude
- Good communication and time-management skills
- Ability to work well as part of a team
- Reliable and flexible approach to work
- Comfortable working across both retail and kitchen environments
- A full, clean UK driving licence is essential for this position
