At St Teresa’s Hospice, every item donated, sold, sorted and distributed by our retail team helps fund vital care and support for people with life-limiting illnesses and their families. We are looking for an experienced retail leader with a proven track record of driving commercial performance, leading multi-site operations and delivering sustainable growth.

Location: St Teresa’s Hospice Superstore & Warehouse, Unit A, McMullen Road, Darlington, DL1 1XY
Hours: 22.5 hours per week over Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, with the need to work Saturdays on occasion to meet operational and management needs.
St Teresa’s Hospice Band 6: £38,087 to £44,195 per annum pro rata (£22,852.20 to £26,517 actual salary for 22.5 hours per week).

About the role:
We are a forward thinking, inclusive registered Charity with Inpatient, Outpatient and Hospice at Home services, providing care and support to palliative patients and their families in their own homes and at St Teresa’s Hospice.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Head of Retail will provide strategic and operational leadership across our retail estate, including our shops, superstore, warehouse and online sales platforms. You will be responsible for delivering sustainable income growth, maximising profitability and ensuring an exceptional customer experience across all retail operations.
You will lead and support a diverse team of managers, staff and volunteers across multiple locations, driving innovation, performance and continuous improvement while ensuring our values remain at the heart of everything we do.
About You:
We are looking for an experienced senior retail professional who can demonstrate:
- Significant experience in a senior multi-site retail management role
- A proven track record of delivering sales growth and improving profitability
- Strong commercial awareness with excellent financial and analytical skills
- Experience of leading large teams and delivering organisational change
- Strategic planning and budget management expertise
- Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to inspire, motivate and develop staff and volunteers
- A full UK manual driving licence and access to own transport
Experience in charity retail, ecommerce operations, warehouse management or logistics would be advantageous.
