Overview
We are seeking a professional HGV Class 1 Driver for Nights and Weekends.The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods across various locations, ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining high standards of safety and customer service. We will be predominantly doing store deliveries and trunk work. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced drivers with a strong focus on commercial driving and delivery operations.
Duties
- Operate Curtain, Refrigerated and Box Van lorries and other HGV vehicles in compliance with all road safety regulations and company policies
- Conduct pre-journey checks to ensure vehicle safety and roadworthiness
- Deliver goods to designated locations, ensuring accurate and timely deliveries
- Secure loads properly
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and logs
- Follow planned routes efficiently whilst adhering to legal driving hours and rest periods
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers regarding delivery schedules or issues
- Assist with loading and unloading when necessary, ensuring proper handling of goods
Requirements
- Valid HGV Class 1 licence with a clean driving record
- Proven experience as a commercial driver, particularly in delivery roles
- Experience with Store Deliveries and Night Trunk work.
- Strong understanding of road safety regulations and best practices in commercial driving
- Ability to secure loads properly
- Good organisational skills with the ability to plan routes effectively
- Physical fitness to handle loading/unloading tasks if required
- Delivery driver experience is preferred, demonstrating reliability and professionalism in customer interactions
