Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated HGV Trailer Technician — Skilled/Semi-Skilled to join our dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on heavy goods vehicle trailers, performing essential maintenance, repairs, and fabrication tasks. If you enjoy hands-on work and want to develop your skills in a fast-paced setting, this position is perfect for you!
Duties
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on HGV trailers, including brakes, lights, and chassis components
- Perform repairs using hand tools, power tools, welding, soldering, and fabrication techniques
- Modify existing equipment as needed
- Repair or replace electrical wiring, lighting systems, and other electrical components on trailers
- Use equipment such as forklifts for loading, lifting, or positioning heavy parts during repairs
- Maintain detailed records of all work performed and ensure compliance with safety standards
Experience
- Hands-on experience with fabrication, welding, soldering.
- Mechanical knowledge related to trailer systems and heavy equipment repair
- Electrical experience including wiring and troubleshooting electrical systems
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and assembly processes
- Strong customer service skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in a busy workshop environment
- Full driving license (HGV license is an advantage but not essential)
Based in our Darlington workshop, the hours are 7.30am - 4.30pm Monday to Friday and Saturday mornings. Saturday hours can be negotiated to accommodate family life.
