Installation Engineer
Role overview
We are actively seeking an Installation Engineer to help drive our installation services division and continued expansion in the UK, US, Germany and India. This is an all-encompassing role, which will provide the successful candidate with a variety of workloads across all segments of the installation and engineering space.
You will deliver the full portfolio of Boston hardware and will contribute towards all aspects of business generation within the region, addressing both new and existing customer opportunities. You will be responsible for installing new and upgraded hardware to customer sites, onsite support activities and customising PoC systems for customer needs.
Responsibilities
- Build, customise and deploy turnkey cluster solutions for customers
- Liaise with customers to finalise cluster deployment and customisation
- Support new and existing customers
- Support the pre-sales function and work alongside our partners and the sales team
- Liaise and help the production department during cluster build/testing
- Liaise with customers to deploy new or upgraded hardware
- Actively engage in hardware qualification for HPC
- Actively engage in tender processes
- Perform benchmarking for new hardware (i.e.: CPU, memory, network)
- Physical racking and cabling of installations
- Support our customer services team with onsite visits
- Travel will be required as part of the role
Key Knowledge & Skills required
- Experience in enterprise server hardware
- HPC cluster experience (setup or use)
- Understanding of GPU and accelerator technologies
- Experience in alternative low power architectures such as ARM
- Shell scripting – Bash, Perl or Python or any combination
- Experience in managing servers remotely (e.g. via IPMI)
- Experience of Linux Cluster Management (e.g. xCAT or BCM)
- Experience of managing high volumes of servers
- Experience with network-based provisioning tool such as Ansible, Puppet, Cobbler, Kickstart etc.
- Experience with physical racking of hardware
- Experience with cable routing and bundling in computer racks and rack dressing
- Experience with cable labelling standards and equipment
