Award-winning Magpas Air Ambulance is an emergency medical charity saving lives in Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and across the East of England 24/7. Responding via a state-of-the-art helicopter or rapid response vehicle, the medical team are able to provide treatments and surgical procedures when a patient's life hangs in the balance. From cardiac arrests to road traffic collisions, our crew are called out on average four times a day.
We’re looking for two Site Support Coordinators to join us at our state-of-the-art airbase and HQ in Alconbury Weald. Opened in September 2023, this facility signifies an exciting time in the charity’s history, providing opportunities to work alongside our incredible clinical and aviation teams, as well as benefit from modern new office and wellbeing facilities.
Reporting into the Business Support Manager, the successful candidates will deliver comprehensive site support services to Magpas Air Ambulance corporate premises. This role involves ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the site through the delivery of high-quality building support services, maintaining best practice standards and promoting professional facilities management and engineering excellence.

Role Summary
- The Site Support Coordinator is responsible for supporting the effective day-to-day management of the organisation’s facilities while ensuring a consistently high standard of cleanliness, hygiene, and workplace presentation.
- This role combines facilities coordination and operational support with hands-on cleaning responsibilities, with approximately 50% of the role dedicated to cleaning and hygiene-related duties. The postholder will contribute to maintaining a safe, compliant, and well-maintained working environment for employees, visitors, and contractors.
Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Cleaning Hygiene
- Conduct routine inspections of the premises and identify maintenance requirements.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the Magpas Air Ambulance base by carrying out routine cleaning duties, including waste disposal, across offices, kitchens, washrooms, meeting rooms, communal areas, and operational spaces.
- Carry out minor repairs and general maintenance tasks as required.
- Coordinate planned and reactive maintenance with contractors and service providers.
- Prepare meeting rooms and support organisational events and office moves.
- Maintain accurate maintenance, cleaning, risk assessment, and audit records using the Radar software system.
- Prepare work specifications and obtain quotations for maintenance and repair works.
- Monitor and maintain stock levels of facilities, cleaning, and operational supplies.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, COSHH, infection prevention, and organisational procedures.
- Receive and distribute deliveries across the organisation as required.
- Liaise with contractors on site, monitoring work quality and compliance with health and safety requirements.
- Ensure contractor work is completed satisfactorily prior to payment authorisation.
- Undertake annual PAT testing of electrical equipment across the site.
- Support the upkeep and maintenance of the organisation’s grounds and external areas, ensuring they are maintained to a high standard at all times.
Fire, Health and Safety
- Maintain the safety and wellbeing of staff, visitors, and contractors within the Magpas Air Ambulance premises, always ensuring a professional and customer-focused environment.
- Provide first aid assistance as required during shifts and maintain all first aid boxes and supplies across the site.
- Support compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements relating to the organisation’s premises, including Health & Safety, Fire Safety, and Legionella management.
- Maintain fire safety records, legionella flushing and testing logs, and ensure routine site safety and security checks are completed.
- Carry out regular health and safety inspections, including fire alarm testing, and assist with the coordination of fire drills in conjunction with the Business Support Manager and Fire Wardens.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation, guidance, and best practice.
- Record and monitor Health & Safety concerns, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are documented and followed through.
- Undertake risk assessments and support compliance with all relevant health, safety, and statutory legislation.
Security
- To ensure all parts of Magpas Air Ambulance premises are made safe and secure when not in use and be responsible for the opening and closing of the premises.
- You may be called out at unsociable hours or at weekends to deal with security problems, make emergency repairs or allow access to any contractors who may be working on site.
- Ensure key/fob access is recorded and updated.
- Carry out perimeter fence patrols once per week to ensure all fences are intact.
Vehicles
- Coordinate scheduled servicing, MOTs, inspections, and preventative maintenance activities.
- Arrange repairs and liaise with garages, suppliers, and external service providers.
- Maintain accurate vehicle maintenance records, service histories, and compliance documentation.
- Ensure vehicles are maintained to high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
- To be responsible for managing the use of the staff car park at the operating base in accordance with established policies.

Qualities, Skills & Attributes
Essential
- Full Driving Licence with own transport
- Knowledge of the building trade or associated industry in a management role
- Good communication skills
- Experience of caretaking or premises management, building cleaning or building maintenance
- Ability to investigate, suggest solutions and overcome challenges
- Ability to organise work and prioritise effectively.
- Ability to carry out general repairs.
- Demonstrate a commitment to raising standards.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
- Ability to manage own work efficiently.

- Availability to represent Magpas Air Ambulance at events if required
Desirable
- Recognised qualification in facilities or engineering
- NEBOSH or IOSH
- Knowledge of IT databases and is IT aware with emails, and Microsoft office applications
- First Aid at Work trained
- Fire Warden training
PAT testing trained
