Job Summary
We are seeking a qualified Dog Groomer / salon manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing professional grooming services to a variety of breeds, ensuring they look and feel their best. This role requires a genuine love for dogs, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a busy environment. The dog Groomer will play a vital role in maintaining the health and wellbeing of our clients' pets while delivering outstanding service to their owners.
Duties
- Perform grooming procedures including bathing, trimming, clipping, and styling according to breed standards and customer preferences
- To assist in managing the salon in the absence of the owner. initially part time you will assist the owner in managing a small team of 4/5 in the running of the salon.
- Assess each animal’s coat, skin condition, and overall health before grooming
- Maintain a clean and hygienic grooming area, ensuring all tools and equipment are sterilised after use
- Provide gentle handling and reassurance to animals during grooming sessions to minimise stress
- Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding grooming needs, special instructions, and aftercare advice
- Keep detailed records of each animal’s grooming history and any health concerns observed during appointments
- Assist with other animal care tasks as required
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times
Requirements
- This position is only open to fully qualified groomers with a nationally recognised qualification and prior salon experience. please do not apply if you are looking for trainee position
- Strong knowledge of animal care practices and breed-specific grooming techniques
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with pet owners
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting when handling larger animals or equipment
- Compassionate attitude towards animals and their owners
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to work during peak hours, including weekends if necessary
Hours.
- The role will require some flexibility of working time to suit the needs of the business. the salon hours are 9am to 4pm with weekends on a rota. In busy periods IE the run up to Christmas we also offer later appointments to cope with demand.
