What is Selective Licensing?
In a nutshell, Selective Licensing is an initiative to raise housing standards and protect our communities.
We make sure landlords are licensed to ensure safer, well-managed homes where tenants are treated fairly, and to promote better-quality homes for the people of Stockton-on-Tees.

What will you be doing?
This isnt an apprenticeship where youll be watching from the sidelines. Youll be part of the team, learning new skills and contributing to meaningful work from the start.
Youll develop valuable administrative, customer service and organisational skills, as well as an understanding of how housing services operate in practice while working towards your Level 3 qualification in Business Administration.
In the role, you will provide administrative support to the Selective Licensing team, which involves:
- Processing licence applications
- Issuing licences
- Conducting tenant referencing
- Providing support, information and advice to landlords and tenants via telephone and email
- Keeping our records up to date

What are we looking for?
You dont need any previous experience. Were looking for someone who is enthusiastic, keen to learn and genuinely interested in developing a career in housing.
You will need Level 2 English Language and Maths qualifications (GCSE or equivalent).
Youll enjoy working with people, be willing to take on new challenges and have a positive approach to learning.
Wed like to hear from people who can:
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Evidence excellent IT skills and ability to use Microsoft Office
- Build positive relationships with a range of people
- Provide excellent customer service in a professional and helpful manner
- Manage competing priorities and meet deadlines

Please note: To be eligible for this apprenticeship, applicants must meet standard apprenticeship funding requirements, including the right to work in the UK. Applicants who already hold a qualification in a related subject area may not be eligible.
