HOURS OF WORK: 37 Hours per week, 39 Weeks per year (Term time + 5 days)
WORKING DAY: 8.00 am to 4.00 pm – Monday - Thursday. 8.00 am to 3.30 pm - Friday. (30 minute break each day)
Some flexible working may be required to cover the start of academic year and events such as Open Evenings

JOB PURPOSE: To support the teaching of Art, Design and Technology by developing, preparing, and maintaining appropriate facilities, equipment, and materials for use by teachers and students.
Working with other colleagues, use the equipment, material, and expertise to enhance the quality of displays, marketing, and information across the College.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assist students and teachers in food technology, product design, ceramics, photography, graphics, textiles, and art classes, including practical instruction of groups of students.
2. Prepare equipment and materials for practical lessons.
3. Ensure tea towels etc are washed and ready for use in class.
4. Assist in the production/design of resources and exemplar materials for use in lessons and displays.
5. Carry out Health and Safety checks and report dangerous occurrences and near misses accordingly.
6. Routinely update stock lists and inventories.
7. Maintain adequate levels of stock and equipment.
8. Place orders in accordance with the college’s financial procedures.
9. Receive weekly delivery of food orders and ingredients from grocery suppliers and put them away into storage. Advise ADT teachers on overstocks and cupboard shortages.
10. Go out to local shops in an emergency to purchase essential recipe ingredients. Prepare PP students required ingredients under direction of teaching staff in advance of the practical lesson.
11. Liaise with absent staff and advise cover teachers on work set.
12. Ensure that the teaching, preparation, and storage areas are kept clean and tidy.
13. Develop technical expertise in the equipment, software and machines used in food technology and textiles.
14. Prepare and clean away practical resources for AD&T lessons and projects as directed by teaching staff.
15. Ensure all tools and equipment is maintained and kept in a safe and operable manner ready to use by staff and student in accordance with best practice, Health and Safety standards and legislation.
16. Investigate, cost, and develop AD&T projects under direction of teaching staff.
17. Develop and maintain good relationships with staff, students, and parents.
18. Implement and promote the college’s policies and procedures.
19. Familiarise with and instruct others in the use of new equipment, machinery, and software.
20. Ensure students behave in a suitable manner; that they are always on task and to implement the College Behaviour Policy as appropriate.
21. Ensure Health and Safety regulations are adhered to.
22. Promote the ethos and vision of the College in all actions carried out.
23. Attend training sessions and CPD activity as required.
24. Working as part of a project team under the direction of the Strategic Business Lead work with the Reprographics Officer and others to provide advice and input to ensure all College displays, publicity and information remain current, engaging, professional consistent in quality and have impact.
25. To always maintain confidentiality in respect of college related matters and to prevent disclosure of confidential, sensitive information in line with data protection legislation and GDPR
26. Any other reasonable duties as required by the Headteacher or Strategic Business Lead, commensurate with the grading of the post. Examples of this include, but are not limited to, duties, first aid, attending trips and events and providing backup to staff in the case of absence, to ensure key functions, tasks or events can operate as usual.
