Bar & Catering Assistant
We are looking for a friendly, reliable, and customer-focused Bar & Catering Assistant to join our team at St Austell Golf Club. The successful candidate will mainly work behind the bar but will also assist with serving food, waiting tables, and ensuring a welcoming environment for members, guests, and visitors.
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys delivering great customer service in a relaxed, club environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve alcoholic, non-alcoholic, and specialty hot drinks efficiently and professionally.
- Prepare and serve high-quality beverages using our barista-style coffee machine.
- Take food and drink orders at the bar and/or tables.
- Run food from the kitchen to tables, ensuring correct and timely service.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the bar, lounge, coffee station, and dining areas.
- Clear and reset tables promptly.
- Handle payments accurately using the till system.
- Assist with event setup and service (e.g. golf days, functions, private events).
- Follow all licensing laws, health and safety, and hygiene regulations.
- Provide excellent customer service at all times, representing the club with pride.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Previous bar, waiting, or café/coffee shop experience.
- Experience operating a barista-style coffee machine and preparing espresso-based drinks.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Friendly, polite, and professional manner.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
- Strong team player who can also work independently.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of food hygiene and bar licensing laws.
- Personal Licence Holder (not essential).
- Experience in a golf club or members' club environment.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent, Zero hours contract
Pay: £12.71-£13.00 per hour
