Kitchen Manager
The newest addition to Durham, Home and botanic is situated on the banks of the river wear on Framwellgate Bridge overlooking Durhams castle and Cathedral. This gorgeous venue will be offering food 5 days per week across two floors, opening mid May 2026.
Home and Botanic are looking for a passionate Kitchen Manager to join the team.
Our KM would oversee all back-of-house operations, focusing on high-volume food quality, team leadership, and financial performance (GP management/stock control). This role requires driving sales, ensuring strict health & safety compliance, and developing staff in a high-energy environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership: Managing daily kitchen operations, ensuring dishes are executed to specification and maintaining high standards.
- Team Management: Recruiting, training, mentoring, and motivating kitchen staff to create a positive, high-performing team.
- Financial & Inventory Control: Owning Gross Profit (GP) management, controlling stock, managing budgets, and overseeing payroll/labour costs.
- Compliance: Ensuring 100% adherence to food safety, hygiene, and health and safety regulations.
- Collaboration: Working closely with front-of-house and management teams to deliver an exceptional guest experience.
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience: Previous experience in a similar fast-paced kitchen management role.
- Leadership: Strong ability to lead, develop, and inspire a team.
- Commercial Awareness: Understanding of stock control, margin management, and KPIs.
- Passion: A genuine passion for food and high-quality
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: £33,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 35 – 50 per week
