Safi Homecare is recruiting an experienced Care Assistant to join our team supporting people in their own homes across South Charnwood, covering Birstall, Syston, Thurmaston, Mountsorrel, Quorn, Barrow.

About the role
As a Care Assistant with Safi Homecare you will visit people in their own homes to help them stay independent, safe and comfortable. Calls are grouped into local rounds within your area so you are not travelling long distances between visits, and travel time between calls is paid.
Who you will be supporting
Safi Homecare is a nurse-led, CQC-registered provider and an approved provider on the Leicestershire County Council Home Care framework. We are supporting people funded by Leicestershire County Council as well as privately funded service users. Our Care Assistants support a wider range of needs to include older people living with dementia, people recovering after a hospital admission or a fall, adults with long-term conditions such as Parkinson's, stroke and COPD and adults with physical disabilities living in their own homes. Some service users need help with personal care and medication; others need reablement support to get back on their feet after illness.
What you will be doing
- Being a friendly, familiar face good conversation, a bit of company, and time that isn't rushed
- Supporting people to stay independent, doing things with them rather than for them wherever they can
- Helping people keep up the routines and interests that matter to them, from a morning cup of tea in the same chair to getting out to the shops or a club
- Personal care, washing, dressing and continence support, delivered in a way that protects dignity
- Medication prompting and administration
- Preparing meals and drinks, and keeping an eye on how well someone is eating and drinking
- Supporting mobility and safe moving and handling
- Light domestic tasks and shopping
- Accurate recording on our digital care system, so the whole team knows how someone is doing
Every one of those tasks is really about the same thing; helping someone stay in their own home, doing the things they've always done, for as long as possible. Our carers tell us the difference is in the small moments someone getting to their daughter's birthday because you spotted an infection early, or our service users, managing their own breakfast again six weeks after a stroke. You will see the results of your work.
Experience
This role is suited to someone with previous paid experience in care, whether in the community, a care home, supported living or a hospital setting. You should already be confident with personal care and comfortable working alone in someone's home. We then build on role-specific training including moving and handling, medication and dementia care with ongoing supervision and support on to further qualifications.
Drivers
A driving licence and access to a vehicle are preferred but not essential. We will consider non-drivers where suitable local rounds are available.
