Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced, organised, and compassionate Head Housekeeper to lead our housekeeping team and help create a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our residents, visitors, and staff. We are a 38 bedded Dementia Accredited residential care home. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and enjoys leading a team in a care setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and support the housekeeping team.
- Develop and manage cleaning schedules to ensure all areas of the home are maintained to a consistently high standard.
- Ensure residents' bedrooms, communal areas, bathrooms, and offices are clean, hygienic, and well presented.
- Monitor and maintain stocks of cleaning products, equipment, and linen.
- Ensure all housekeeping procedures comply with infection prevention and control guidelines.
- Carry out regular quality checks and address any housekeeping issues promptly.
- Train, induct, and support new housekeeping staff.
- Work closely with the Home Manager and other departments to provide an excellent service for residents.
- Follow all health and safety policies and report maintenance issues as required.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous housekeeping experience, ideally in a care home, healthcare, or hospitality setting.
- Experience supervising or leading a housekeeping team.
- Good knowledge of infection control, COSHH, and health and safety procedures.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
- A positive attitude, reliability, and a genuine commitment to providing a high-quality environment for older people.
