Job summary
To work as an integrated part of the Patient Engagement & Involvement Team, accountable to the Patient Engagement & Involvement Manager. This post will form part of the wider patient experience and engagement team who are dedicated to ensuring patient experience informs the care provided by the Trust.
The purpose of this role is to support the engagement and involvement plan for Somerset NHS Foundation Trust by ensuring the trust has an effective working relationship with the interpretation services provider and addresses any queries that arise. The role will support the delivery of the Trust's Accessible Information Standard work programme through administrative support, monitoring activity, coordinating meetings, maintaining records and supporting accessibility initiatives across the organisation.
The post holder will assist the Patient Engagement and Involvement Manager with any external and proactive engagement. The vision for this role is to also work in close partnership with the Trust inclusion team and will therefore have a specific focus on the equality, diversity and inclusion agenda. There will be a requirement to collate data and feedback to understand the experience of diverse groups and use insight to inform positive change and improvements to service delivery.
The post holder will help to promote an inclusive culture, and champion equality and diversity within services, processes, values and behaviours.

Support the production of routine reports and assist with the collection and presentation of data.

Responds and actions relevant emails within the engagement team email inbox.
Support the Patient Experience and Involvement Manager with the management and coordination of the Accessible Information Standards.
Handles sensitive information in an appropriate and confidential manner, escalating complex communications to senior colleagues where necessary.
Vary the style and level of communication with individuals to meet the differing levels of understanding.
Liaise on a day-to-day basis with all other relevant colleagues, to ensure positive experience is maintained to a high standard.

Job description
The post holder will assist members of the Patient Engagement team with any external and proactive engagement.
Assist in developing a procedure for teams to proactively engage with patients, which includes setting role descriptions and a recruitment form for patient engagement which may involve patient panels. Maintain a database of venues that can be used for engagement events including information such as booking refreshments.
Support teams to proactively engage with local communities, including seldom heard and under-represented groups, by assisting with administration, communications and engagement activities.
Create a database of groups of people who we are able to reach out to - this will assist teams with proactive engagement,
Organises and prioritises workload and works flexibly in response to competing demands, adaptable.
Planning of activities across multiple workstreams, adjusting plans and priorities as required to meet local, regional, national requirements and co-ordinating with the Events, patient participation activities.
Provide administrative and organisational support for engagement activities, focus groups and consultation events.
Assist with patient engagement activities and patient satisfaction through effective service user engagement and peer led forums and take notes of discussions to help inform next steps.
Participate in appropriate meetings, training, and service development.
To identify training needs regarding accessibly information standards and use of the interpretation and translation service and work with the suppliers/develop in house training.
