About Us
Tendring Express Services Ltd is a growing logistics company specialising in the collection and delivery of palletised freight and parcels.
We are currently looking for an experienced and highly capable Forklift Driver / Warehouse Operative to join our team.
This is a busy, fast-paced warehouse environment, so we are looking for someone who is confident operating a forklift, works quickly and efficiently, and is able to maintain a high standard of accuracy and safety throughout their shift.
The successful applicant will play an important role in ensuring freight is unloaded, sorted and reloaded efficiently while helping to keep the warehouse organised, safe and presentable.
Key Responsibilities
Daily duties will include:
- Loading and unloading HGVs, trucks, vans and trailers using a forklift
- Moving and positioning palletised freight safely and efficiently within the warehouse
- Working at pace to ensure vehicles and trailers are loaded and unloaded within operational deadlines
- Scanning freight accurately into and out of the depot
- Checking freight for damage or irregularities and reporting any issues
- Restacking palletised goods where required
- Rewrapping and securing pallets to ensure freight is safe for onward transportation
- Carrying out basic trailer tyre checks and reporting any defects identified
- Maintaining a clean, tidy and safe warehouse environment
- Keeping working areas, loading bays and access routes clear
- Assisting with general warehouse duties when required
- Working closely with drivers, warehouse colleagues and management to ensure the smooth running of the operation
What We Are Looking For
This role requires someone who is very confident and competent on a forklift. Due to the volume of freight handled, you must be able to operate efficiently while maintaining excellent awareness and control.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have significant previous forklift operating experience
- Be confident loading and unloading palletised freight from a variety of commercial vehicles
- Be quick and efficient without compromising safety
- Have good spatial awareness and be comfortable working in a busy warehouse
- Take care when handling customers' freight
- Be reliable, punctual and able to work consistently as part of a team
- Have a positive attitude and be willing to assist with other warehouse duties
- Be physically capable of restacking, wrapping and handling palletised goods when necessary
- Take pride in maintaining a clean and organised working environment
- Be able to work independently and use initiative when required
This would particularly suit an experienced forklift driver who enjoys working in a busy logistics environment and is comfortable with a role where speed, accuracy and safe handling are equally important.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday
11:00am – 7:00pm
No regular weekend working.
