Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented MOT Tester to join our automotive service team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting vehicle safety inspections in accordance with legal standards and manufacturer guidelines. Duties
- Conduct thorough MOT inspections on a variety of vehicle makes and models, assessing safety, emissions, and roadworthiness.
- Use hand tools and power tools to perform minor repairs or adjustments necessary to pass inspection criteria.
- Record detailed inspection reports and communicate findings clearly to customers.
- Assist with vehicle preparation, including checking lights, tyres, brakes, suspension, exhaust systems, and other essential components.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all inspections carried out in compliance with legal requirements.
- Ensure all equipment is maintained in good working order and adhere to health and safety regulations during inspections.
- Support the workshop team with general vehicle maintenance tasks as required, including heavy lifting of vehicles or parts.
Experience
- Proven experience as an MOT Tester or in a similar vehicle inspection role is highly desirable.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of automotive systems and components.
- Familiarity with the use of hand tools and power tools for vehicle diagnostics and repairs.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling vehicles or parts.
- Knowledge of current MOT testing procedures, regulations, and safety standards is advantageous but not essential; training can be provided for the right candidate.
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail to ensure accurate inspections and reporting.
