Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Ground Handling Operator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe handling of aircraft ground operations, including loading, unloading, and servicing aircraft. This role requires excellent organisational skills and the ability to work effectively within a fast-paced environment. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to smooth airport operations while developing valuable skills in ground handling procedures.
Duties
- Ensure safe, efficient, and compliant handling of inbound and outbound air cargo in line with airline and aviation security requirements
- Perform cargo build-up, breakdown, palletising, and ULD preparation, ensuring proper labelling, securing, and protection of shipments
- Support X-ray screening, ETD testing, and security checks, ensuring all cargo meets compliance standards before handover
- Coordinate with ramp teams during flight operations, assisting with cargo transfer, loading/unloading, and handling of priority or special shipments
- Accurately scan, record, and verify cargo movements, airway bills, labels, and security documentation within operational systems
- Follow all Health & Safety and airport regulations, use equipment safely, wear required PPE, and report hazards or incidents promptly
- Maintain clean and organised work areas, conduct basic equipment checks, and support continuous improvement through teamwork and feedback
Qualifications
- Previous experience in cargo handling, warehouse, or airport ground operations is preferred but not essential; training will be provided
- Physically fit and able to handle manual tasks, including lifting, loading, and moving cargo safely
- Ability to operate basic ground handling equipment such as dollies and pallet trucks; forklift licence (e.g. Counterbalance B1 or PPT) is an advantage
- Good understanding of safety awareness and willingness to comply with Health & Safety and aviation security regulations
- Basic English communication skills and ability to follow instructions in a fast-paced operational environment
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends
- Strong teamwork attitude with a proactive and responsible approach to work
