About the Job you are considering:
A highly experienced Data Architect with an AI-First mindset to lead the design and evolution of enterprise-scale data platforms, architectures, and transformation programmes. This role requires deep expertise across Data Architecture, Data Modelling, Data Migration, Data Integration, Data Governance, Cloud Data Platforms, AI Enablement, and Enterprise Transformation, with particular focus on the Microsoft Data & AI ecosystem (Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Synapse, Purview, Databricks, Power BI and AI services

The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.
Key Responsibilities
AI-First Data Architecture
- Define and own enterprise data architecture strategy aligned to AI, analytics, automation and business transformation objectives.
- Design AI-ready data platforms supporting GenAI, Copilot, ML and advanced analytics use cases.
- Establish architectural principles, patterns and standards enabling scalable, secure and governed AI solutions.
- Develop target-state architectures focused on data democratization, reusable data products and intelligent automation.
Enterprise Data Architecture
- Create conceptual, logical and physical data architectures covering operational, analytical and AI workloads.
- Define enterprise data models, canonical models and information architecture standards.
- Design data domains, data products and data ecosystems aligned to Data Mesh and modern data platform principles.
- Ensure architectures support agility, scalability, resilience and regulatory compliance.
Data Modelling & Information Management
- Lead enterprise data modelling initiatives including:
- Conceptual Data Models
- Logical Data Models
- Physical Data Models
- Dimensional Models
- Master Data Models
- Reference Data Models
- Define metadata, lineage and data quality frameworks.
- Drive consistency and reuse across business domains.
Data Migration & Modernisation
- Lead large-scale data migration and platform transformation programmes.
- Define migration strategies, cutover approaches and reconciliation frameworks.
- Support legacy platform decommissioning and cloud modernization initiatives.
- Ensure data quality, integrity and auditability throughout migration lifecycle.
Data Ingestion & Integration
- Design scalable batch, streaming and real-time ingestion architectures.
- Define enterprise integration patterns using APIs, events, messaging and CDC mechanisms.
- Establish reusable ingestion frameworks and data pipeline standards.
- Support integration across internal systems, SaaS platforms and external data providers.

Provide architecture leadership across:

Lead architecture decisions around platform selection, scalability, security, governance and operational excellence.
Business Transformation & Discovery
- Support business case development and investment justification.
- Lead discovery, assessment and current-state analysis engagements.
- Facilitate business and technology workshops with senior stakeholders.
- Define strategic roadmaps, transition states and implementation plans.
- Translate business objectives into tangible data and AI capabilities.
Data Governance & Regulatory Compliance
- Define governance operating models and data ownership frameworks.
- Implement enterprise-wide policies for:

- Lineage

- Retention
- Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure alignment to GDPR and Financial Services regulatory requirements.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Act as trusted advisor to CIO, CTO, CDO and senior business stakeholders.
- Lead multidisciplinary architecture, engineering and delivery teams.
- Influence strategic decision making across programmes and portfolios.
- Mentor architects, engineers and analysts.
Essential Skills & Experience
Experience
- 15+ years in Data Architecture and Enterprise Data Management.
- Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale transformation programmes.
- Strong track record in discovery, business case development and strategic consulting.
- Experience working within Financial Services, Public Sector or highly regulated environments.
- Demonstrable delivery of cloud migration and data modernization programmes.
