Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Protection & Estate Planning Specialist to provide clients with joined-up advice across protection, wills and estate planning. The role will focus on identifying client needs, making suitable recommendations and arranging appropriate solutions to protect clients, their families and their estates. The Specialist will work with a mix of existing clients and self-generated business, as well as developing protection opportunities arising from wills and estate planning relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Protection
- Conduct client fact-finds and identify protection needs and gaps.
- Recommend suitable protection solutions based on client needs, circumstances and affordability.
- Advise across:
- Life Insurance
- Critical Illness Cover
- Income Protection
- Family Income Benefit
- Recommend appropriate levels and terms of cover.
- Complete and submit applications on behalf of clients.
- Manage applications through the provider underwriting process to completion.
- Liaise with clients and providers where additional information or action is required.
- Review existing protection arrangements and identify opportunities where client needs have changed.
Wills & Estate Planning
- Identify clients' estate planning needs and objectives.
- Provide advice and recommendations relating to wills and estate planning.
- Advise on appropriate trust and legacy planning solutions within the scope of the role.
- Discuss and document Guardians, Executors and other relevant estate planning requirements.
- Identify where protection solutions complement a client's estate planning arrangements.
- Manage estate planning cases through to completion in line with company processes.
Lead & Business Development
The Specialist will have access to a range of opportunities, including:
- Existing client/back-book opportunities
- Client review opportunities
- Wills and estate planning clients
- Guardians and Executors identified through wills
- Internal referrals
- Self-generated business
- Client referrals and professional relationships
The Specialist will be expected to develop these opportunities proactively while also building their own pipeline of new business.
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate should demonstrate:
- Strong knowledge and experience of protection advice.
- Experience identifying client needs and making suitable recommendations.
- Knowledge and experience of wills and estate planning.
- Understanding of trusts and their appropriate use within protection and estate planning.
- Ability to manage protection applications from recommendation through to policy commencement.
- Strong client-facing, communication and relationship-building skills.
- Consultative sales and business development ability.
- Strong organisation and case-management skills.
- Ability to generate referrals and develop new business opportunities.
- High standards of accuracy, professionalism and compliance.

We are looking for someone who can confidently manage the client journey from identifying a need, through recommendation and application, to completion and ongoing relationship management.
The successful candidate will combine strong protection knowledge with estate planning expertise and a commercial mindset, using both existing client opportunities and self-generated business to build a sustainable pipeline while delivering high-quality client outcomes.
