About the Role
An established electronics manufacturer in Crawley is looking to recruit an experienced Buyer to join its Procurement team. This role is suited to someone with a background in engineering, manufacturing or electronics who understands the importance of supplier management, material availability and supporting production requirements.
Working closely with suppliers and internal teams, you'll be responsible for managing purchasing activities, ensuring components and materials are sourced efficiently while maintaining the required standards for cost, quality and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end purchasing process, from supplier selection through to delivery.
- Raise and manage purchase orders for production materials, components and consumables.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times and delivery schedules with suppliers.
- Monitor supplier performance and address any delivery or quality issues.
- Source new suppliers and support supplier development activities.
- Work closely with Production, Engineering, Planning and Stores teams to ensure material availability.
- Support cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and update ERP/MRP systems.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Buyer within an engineering, manufacturing or electronics environment.
- Strong understanding of purchasing processes and supplier management.
- Experience procuring technical components, materials or manufactured parts.
- Ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Confident working with internal stakeholders across multiple departments.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Desirable
- Experience within an electronics manufacturing or PCB environment.
- Understanding of electronic components and manufacturing processes.
- CIPS qualification or working towards CIPS.
- Experience supporting cost reduction and supplier improvement projects.
