GW Innovative Interiors is expanding its manufacturing operation with the launch of The GWI Frame Division, producing high-quality timber frames for sofas, chairs, beds, headboards and commercial seating.
We are looking for an experienced Woodworking Machinist to join our Sheffield workshop and become an important part of this growing side of the business.
The role will involve machining timber and sheet materials ready for furniture frame assembly, working from cutting lists, drawings and templates.
Main duties
- Setting and operating woodworking machinery safely and accurately
- Cutting and machining hardwood and softwood components
- Working from drawings, dimensions and cutting lists
- Dimensioning timber to required finished sizes
- Cross-cutting, ripping, profiling, grooving and joint preparation
- Producing repeat components accurately for batch production
- Checking finished components for size and quality
- Maintaining machinery and keeping the machining area organised
- Working closely with our frame makers and production team
- Helping develop efficient machining methods as the Frame Division grows
- Furniture assembly
Machinery
Experience with some or all of the following would be beneficial:
- Dimension/panel saw
- Spindle moulder
- Planer
- Thicknesser
- Bandsaw
- Woodworking extraction systems
- Furniture assembly clamping etc
What we're looking for
Previous woodworking machining experience is essential.
Furniture or furniture-frame manufacturing experience would be particularly advantageous, although we would also consider experienced machinists from joinery or other woodworking backgrounds.
You should be comfortable setting machinery, working independently and producing components accurately and consistently.
We're particularly interested in someone who takes pride in their work and can contribute ideas for improving production methods as the operation develops.
