Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting meal preparation and ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly. This position is perfect for individuals with a passion for food.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of meals, including chopping, slicing, and cooking ingredients as directed by the head cook.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, ensuring all utensils and equipment are properly cleaned and stored.
- Help with catering events by preparing food items according to specific menus and dietary requirements.
- Follow food safety guidelines to ensure all food is prepared and stored safely, minimising the risk of contamination.
- Support the culinary team during busy service periods by providing assistance where needed, including plating dishes and restocking supplies.
- Participate in inventory management by tracking stock levels and reporting any shortages to the head cook.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a catering environment is advantageous but not essential; a willingness to learn is key.
- Basic knowledge of food safety practices and culinary techniques is preferred.
- Ability to work efficiently in a kitchen setting while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- A passion for cooking and an eagerness to develop culinary skills further.
