As our Internal Communications & Engagement Officer, you will contribute to the delivery of the internal communications plan by creating accessible and engaging content, managing agreed internal communication channels and supporting campaigns, colleague engagement initiatives and organisational projects.
You’ll report to the Senior Marketing & External Affairs Manager working as part of the Marketing & External Affairs team. In this role, you’ll also work in close partnership with the Director of People and colleagues across the organisation to create high-quality communications that keep colleagues informed, connected and engaged.
What You’ll Do
Delivery of Communications & Engagement Activity

Plan and deliver defined pieces of internal communications activity, balancing deadlines, priorities and stakeholder needs.

Manage all channels, including newsletters, SharePoint and campaigns, creating engaging content and ensuring accessibility for all employees.
Employer brand and reputation

Support employer brand communications, enhancing reputation on platforms such as Glassdoor and Indeed.

Collaborate with marketing, social media, and external affairs teams to ensure consistent messaging and alignment between internal and external communications.
Engagement and culture

Support a positive, inclusive, and values-driven culture through engagement initiatives.

Partner with leadership to address employee feedback, implement action plans, and celebrate achievements organisation wide.
Monitoring (analytics) and continuous improvement

Monitor communications performance using analytics and feedback, identifying best-practice approaches and evidence-based improvements.

Contribute to regular updates for senior colleagues on progress, challenges and opportunities in internal communications activity.
✅ What You Bring

Evidence of relevant skills, knowledge or experience in communications, marketing, PR, HR, employee engagement or a related area.

Experience in planning, managing, and delivering engaging communications across multiple channels (e.g. Communications and Engagement App, Teams, intranet, newsletters, email, events).

Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to adapt tone and style to different audiences.

Ability to create clear, engaging and accessible content, such as written updates, presentations, campaign materials, graphics, surveys or video content.

Collaborative approach with the ability to build effective relationships across teams.

Willingness to travel nationally to engage with local teams and stay overnight when required.

(Bonus) Experience in health, social care, or policy-related communications; familiarity with accessibility tools.
