Major Duties
To support the Doctors, Nurse Clinician & Practice Nurse in undertaking clinical and administrative duties to agreed protocols and ensuring that all work is carried out to agreed standards.
Specific Duties and Tasks
Urinalysis
- Home visits
- Room checks (stock etc)
- involvement in anticoagulation clinics
- Clinical Assistance
- Blood pressure reviews
- Blood tests
- ECG's
- Chaperoning (as required)
- Dietary/health advice (cholesterol etc)
- New patient medicals
- Weight monitoring
- Learning Disability patient’s health checks
- Ad-hoc requests from clinicians
- Administering flu jabs, B12 injections etc
- Stock checks and ordering of medical supplies and consumables (inc
- disposable items for minor surgery)
- See patients for BP measurement for hypertension monitoring and
- liaise with doctor/nurse in accordance with the protocol
Practice Organisation
To attend Primary Care Meetings as appropriate
- Inform Practice Manager of annual leave as soon as possible
- to allow appropriate holiday cover to be arranged.
- with support of the Practice Manager, Nurse Clinician and Practice Nurse, participate in the implementation of new policies and procedures
- to aid and improve practice organisation and provision of service
- to patients within a clinical governance framework
- With the support of the Practice Manager, participate in the
development of effective systems of communication and cooperation
between doctors, staff, patients and other Primary Healthcare members
- Be aware of and participate in the Practice Development Plan
- Keep personal development planning folder/ training record up to
date
Health & Safety
- Ensure that your behaviour within the practice complies with current
health and safety policy detailed in the practice
- Ensure all accidents or dangerous incidents are reported to and
recorded by the Practice Manager immediately
- Ensure that the Practice Manager is informed of any damaged fixtures
or fittings in the reception area or waiting area to ensure prompt
repair
Patient Welfare
- Direct any patient complaints to the Practice Manager. Be courteous
at all times
- Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained at all times
Other
- To complete other tasks commensurate with the post
